MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: October 28, 2019 to November 5, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, October 28, 2019, through Monday, November 5, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 34 firearms in the District of Columbia.

  • A SCCY Industries CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2700 block of Bruce Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Anthony Nicholas Brown, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Felon in Possession.   • A Smith & Wesson MP40 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of 3rd Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Hekeem Alonzo Remy, of Southwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Wednesday, October 30, 2019

  • A Charter Arms .38 caliber revolver (pictured below) was recovered in the 6000 block of Clay Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Damien Wade Dempsey, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.   • A Taurus .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 600 block of Longfellow Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Milton Benjamin Guevara-Villatora, of no fixed addressed, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of Underwood Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Geovany Dominguez Escobar, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Taurus PT145 Pro .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1500 block of Butler Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Brandon Leroy Dean, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. CCN: 19-194-496

 

  • A Sig Sauer P229 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 800 block of Barnaby Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-194-697

 

  • A SCCY Industries CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1900 block of 9th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 51-year-old Ahmed Abdulkaser Hassen, of Corona, CA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.   • A Kel-Tec P32 .32 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3900 block of 17th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Irene Elizabeth Conforti, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.   • A Blazer Long .22 caliber rifle was recovered in the 200 block of 35th Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-195-266

 

  • A Colt PT .25 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 30-year-old Sean Marcellus Brown, of Southeast, D.C., and 29-year-old Gervanni McGriff, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Counterfeit Tags, and No Permit.   • A Mossberg .20 gauge pump shotgun and a Firestar .45 caliber handgun were recovered in the 200 block of Newcomb Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 15-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., and 39-year-old Kenya October Iesisha Board, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.   • A Winchester bolt action rifle, a Buchel Orinda bolt action rifle, Ruger M77 bolt action rifle, and a Springfield bolt action rifle (all pictured below) were recovered in the 4600 block of Livingston Road, Southeast. CCN: 19-196-007

 

 

  • A Glock 43 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3800 block of Hayes Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Ryan

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3500 block of Jay Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Andrew De Paul Lewis, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.   • A Springfield Armory XP-45 ACP .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Tommie Lee McCoy, of Northwest, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Cruelty to Children, and Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Kenyatta Douglas Butler, of Southeast, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Niko Marcus Cherry, of Fort Washington, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License in a Gun Free Zone, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. Monday, November 4, 2019

  • A Taurus PT733 .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Columbia Road, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 19-198-011

 

  • A Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun and a Daisy Powerline BB gun were recovered in the 6000 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 19-197-800

 

  • An Astra .22 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3900 block of 13th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Unlawful Entry. CCN: 19-197-898

 

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
