MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: November 4, 2019 to November 11, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, November 4, 2019, through Monday, November 11, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 32 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, November 5, 2019

  • A Llama MAX-1 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 5200 block of D Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Melvin Edward Love, of Greenbelt, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed.  CCN: 19-198-736

 

 

 

  • A Ruger Deltonics Seattle Pocket 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of M Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Emmanuel Tyrone Sartor, of Hyattsville, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, No Permit, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of PCP.  CCN: 19-198-446

 

  • A Smith & Wesson revolver was recovered in the 300 block of 6th Street, Southeast.  CCN: 19-198-476

 

Wednesday, November 6, 2019

  • A Heckler & Koch MP5 .22 rifle (pictured below) and a Ruger P85 BB gun were recovered in the 200 block of 36th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 56-year-old Rondolios Way, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  CCN: 19-199-265

 

 

 

  • A Beretta 950 .22 caliber handgun was recovered in the 700 block of Division Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 19-199-161

 

  • A Smith & Wesson SD9VE 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of O Street, Northeast.  The following people were arrested: 39-year-old Keith Taylor Gliss, of Northeast, D.C., and 26-year-old Deandre Providence, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 19-199-342

 

  • A Taurus PT111 Pro 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2200 block of M Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Bijan Mathew Gray, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Parole Violation, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 19-199-376

 

  • An American Tactical Firearms Extreme 1911 Titan .45 caliber handgun and a Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun were recovered in the 300 block of 62nd Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 37-year-old Damian Bradlee Brown, of Northeast, D.C., for Simple Assault, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.  CCN: 19-199-297

  • A Gamo GP 20 Combat BB gun was recovered in the 600 block of Mississippi Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 19-199-526

Friday, November 8, 2019

  • A Taurus 709 Slim 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 700 block of H Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 17-year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  CCN: 19-200-539

 

 

 

  • A Kel-Tec 911 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4800 block of Georgia Avenue, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Jamie Foster of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Possession without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Assault on a Police Officer, Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Obey an Officer, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 19-200-404

 

 

  • A Springfield XDS 9mm caliber handgun and a Taurus Millennium 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 3100 block of 30th Street, Southeast.  CCN: 19-200-254

 

  • A Taurus PT111 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of 18th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Keith Kinney, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol.  CCN: 19-200-733

 

  • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4500 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Delonte Williams, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 19-200-752

Monday, November 11, 2019

  • A Para Ordinance P1245 .45 caliber handgun, a Smith & Wesson SW40VE .40 caliber, and a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver (all pictured below) were recovered in the 3400 block of B Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 46-year-old Tyra Monique Roberts, of Southeast, D.C., and 59-year-old Anthony Leroy Gray, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of Ivanhoe Street, Southwest.  The following people were arrested: 18-year-old Erick Alexander Blanco-Cordova, of Northwest, D.C., and 28-year-old Lesly Yocelin Taracena, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia with Intent to Distribute, Failure to Pay Cab Fare, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  CCN: 19-202-389

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
