MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: November 18, 2019 to November 25, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, November 18, 2019, through Monday, November 25, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 31 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, November 19, 2019

  • A Glock 48 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4000 block of Hayes Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Dominic L. Watkins, of Oxon Hill, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 19-207-344

 

 

  • A Kahr CM9 handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of Clifton Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 19-206-999

 

  • A Taurus 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of M Street, Southwest. CCN: 19-207-188

 

  • A Ruger P95 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of Irvington Street, Southwest. CCN: 19-207-345

 

  • A Smith & Wesson MP Shield 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of I Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Matthew Bernard Johnson, of Laurel, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, No Permit, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Wednesday, November 20, 2019

  • A Smith & Wesson SD40 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3200 block of 15th Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Montel Simons, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of Implements of a Crime.   • A 9mm caliber “Ghost gun” was recovered in the 1500 block of Tubman Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Rufus Davis, III, of no fixed address, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Resisting Arrest, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, National Firearms Act, Receiving Stolen Property, Counterfeit Tags, and Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle.   • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Damien Marshe Gibbs, of Seat Pleasant, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Stolen Property.   • A Hi-Point C9 9mm caliber was recovered in the 1400 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 54-year-old Clifton Keith Suber, of Oxon Hill, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Simple Assault. CCN: 19-207-722

 

  • A Taurus PT111 G2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of Girard Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 46-year-old Ako Malik Handy, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.   • A Ruger P345 .45 caliber handgun and a Kel-Tec PMR-30 .22 caliber handgun were recovered in the 4900 block of Quarles Street, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 22-year-old Reginald Gardner, of District Heights, MD, 27-year-old Anthony Clemons, of Camp Springs, MD, 19-year-old Alfred Sade, of Capitol Heights, MD, 21-year-old Ricardo Delonte Gardner, of Northeast, D.C., and 23-year-old Marcus Anthony Harris, of Silver Spring, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Llama Mini Max .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 500 block of Edgewood Street, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 21-year-old Teron Marquette Gaffney, of Hyattsville, MD, 19-year-old Kiyon Antonio Boyd, of Northeast, D.C., 21-year-old Giovanni Raseeb Lovelace, of Northeast, D.C., and 21-year-old Asomani Roberts, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Felon in Possession, and Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.   • A Davis Industries P380 .380 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 100 block of 56th Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Willie Alphonse Logan, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 19 BB gun with laser sight and a Legends M1911 A1 4.5mm caliber BB gun were recovered in the 1900 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Brandon Mitchell Cahill, of Hanover, PA, for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a BB gun, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Taurus PT1911 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 300 block of 37th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Lowell Trueheart, of Southeast, D.C., for Assault on a Police Officer, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Sig Sauer P938 9mm caliber handgun and a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 2300 block of Raynolds Place, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 23-year-old Dajuan Jones, of Waldorf, MD, and 29-year-old Eric Kelly, of Indian Head, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Felon in Possession, and Permit Revoked.   • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1600 block of Montana Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 19-211-044

 

 

  • A Stinger P311 BB gun was recovered in the 1600 block of Fort Davis Place, Southeast. CCN: 19-210-521

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
