MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: November 11, 2019 to November 18, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, November 11, 2019, through Monday, November 18, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 35 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, November 12, 2019

  • A Polymer Inc. P80 “Ghost Gun” 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 900 block of 48th Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 15-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License.  CCN: 19-202-840

 

 

 

  • A Glock 43 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 900 block of Peabody Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License.  CCN: 19-202-629

 

  • A Bryco Arms .380 caliber handgun and a Crossman 2100 Classic BB gun were recovered in the 3400 block of 25th Street, Southeast.  CCN: 19-202-860

 

  • A Four Hands .32 caliber revolver was recovered in the 2800 block of Jasper Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 50-year-old Aaron Tyrone Smith, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.  CCN: 19-202-971

 

Wednesday, November 13, 2019

  • A 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1900 block of Ridge Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Gerald Hall, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Fugitive from Justice, Leaving After Colliding, Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer, Loaning Registration and Misuse of Temporary Tags.  CCN: 19-203-229

 

  • An Ekol Arms Magnum 9mm caliber replica handgun was recovered in the Unit block of N Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-203-396

 

  • A Taurus TH40 .40 caliber handgun, a Remington Arms 1911 .45 caliber handgun, and a Hi-Point ACP .45 caliber handgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 200 block of Wilmington Place, Southeast.  The following people were arrested: 37-year-old Sara Marie Moody, of Southeast, D.C., and 40-year-old John Patterson, of no fixed address, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 19-203-346

 

 

 

 

 

  • A Glock 27 Gen 4 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of Rock Creek Ford Road, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 19-203-685

  • A Glock 19 Gen 4 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2200 block of 12th Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Beneyam Anteneh, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Simple Assault.  CCN: 19-203-515

 

Thursday, November 14, 2019

  • A Polymer Inc. “Ghost Gun” .40 caliber handgun, Polymer Inc. “Ghost Gun” .40 caliber handgun, and a Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 4500 block of Fort Totten Drive, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Johnathan M. Gabriel, Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Obliterate, Remove, Change or Alter the Serial Number of a Firearm, and Resisting Arrest.   • A Smith & Wesson SD40 .40 caliber handgun and an A.C. Billerica 54-1 7.62mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1100 block of K Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 18-year-old Mikayah Alston, of Southeast, D.C., and 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.  CCN: 19-204-028

 

  • A Taurus S45 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Jabari Reid, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 19-204-143

 

 

 

  • A Glock 26 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 500 block of L Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 36-year-old Theodore Buchnere, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  CCN: 19-204-244

 

  • A Heckler & Koch VP9 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3000 block of 30th Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Tumarcus Hawkins, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 19-204-209

  • A Taurus .22 caliber rifle was recovered in the 600 block of Galveston Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 17-year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  CCN: 19-204-720

 

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of 7th Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Jamie Foster of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Possession without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Assault on a Police Officer, Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Obey an Officer, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 19-204-281

  • A Ruger LC9s 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of 9th Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Justice Maurice Wayne, of Alexandria, VA, for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of an Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 19-205-624

  • A .32 caliber revolver and a 1911 A1 .45 caliber handgun were recovered in the 4000 block of 4th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 56-year-old John Albert Whipple, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a BB gun, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  CCN: 19-206-242

 

Monday, November 18, 2019

  • A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1000 block of 12th Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-206-681

 

  • A Taurus PT24/7 G2 .45 caliber handgun and a 9mm caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 4600 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 19-year-old Napoleon King, of Northeast, D.C., 20-year-old Malik Williams, of Capitol Heights, MD, and 18-year-old Tyree Mciver, for Carrying  a Pistol without License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm.  CCN: 19-206-805

 

 

 

  • A Carl Walther 4.5mm caliber BB gun was recovered in the 6200 block of 8th Street, Northwest.  CCN: 19-206-587

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
