March 23, 2020 to March 30, 2020

 

(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, March 23, 2020, through Monday, March 30, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 37 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, March 24, 2020

  • A Smith & Wesson SW9VE 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Ray Patterson, of Forestville, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License.  CCN: 20-050-381

 

  • A Springfield Arms XD9 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4600 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast.  CCN: 20-050-354

 

  • A Springfield Armory XDS 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 800 block of Chesapeake Street, Southeast.  CCN: 20-050-372

  • A Sig Sauer FP2022 9mm caliber handgun and a Glock 19 Gen 4 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 700 block of Harvard Street, Northwest.  The following people were arrested: 19-year-old Emon Deandre Fleming, of Northwest, D.C., and 21-year-old Donnell V. Jones, Jr., of Northwest, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer in a Motor Vehicle.  CCN: 20-050-284

  • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3500 block of A Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Novel Anthony Springs, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.  CCN: 20-050-775

 

  • A Hi-Point JHP .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1300 block of 27th Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 15-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 20-050-786

 

  • A .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1700 block of Trenton Place, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Elton Glenn Wilson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-050-797

  • A Ruger SR-22 .22 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of Young Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Sabeyun Malcolm Edwards Hardy, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-050-881

  • A .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun and a Ruger SR45 .45 caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 500 block of Newcomb Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 28-year-old William Lee Cox, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Second Degree Cruelty to Children Grave Risk, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-051-139

 

  • A SCCY CPX-1 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2800 block of 28th Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Trone Herbert Harrington, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Felon in Possession.  CCN: 20-051-170

 

  • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” gun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1500 block of Tobias Drive, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Bruce Lamont Ross, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Tampering of GPS Device.  CCN: 20-051-209

 

  • A Springfield Armory XDS .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 4000 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Stefon Antonio Broadwater, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-051-198

  • A Kahr CW45 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4300 block of 3rd Street, Southeast.   • A Witness P 10mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2200 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 43-year-old Cary Lamont Miles, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Bench Warrant.  CCN: 20-052-569

  • A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3200 block of 15th Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Kyrie Ronald Holmes, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-052-841

 

  • A .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2900 block of Stanton Road, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Mark Allen Odoms, of Oxon Hill, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Threats to do Bodily Harm, Unlawful Possession of Liquid PCP, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed.  CCN: 20-052-826

 

 

 

 

 

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
