MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries:

January 20, 2019 to January 27, 2020

 

(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, January 20, 2020, through Monday, January 27, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 52 firearms in the District of Columbia.

  • A Bersa Thunder 380 .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of 14th Place, Southeast. CCN: 20-012-557
  • A Raven Arms Company P-25 .25 caliber handgun was recovered in the 200 block of Gallatin Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-012-623

  • A Glock 43 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3100 block of Naylor Road, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Malik Hall, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered ammunition, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Prior Conviction), Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-013-189

 

  • A FNH FNX-9 9mm caliber handgun, a Century Arms AK47 7.62mm caliber assault rifle, a SWD Inc. M11 9mm caliber handgun, a .223 caliber “Ghost Gun” assault rifle, and a FNH Five-Seven 5.27x.28 caliber assault rifle (all pictured below) were recovered in the Unit block of Galveston Street, Southwest.  The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Luther Williams, of Southwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and National Firearms Act.  CCN: 20-013-280

 

  • A Smith & Wesson SD40VE .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 200 block of Q Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 45-year-old Jeffrey Frederick Coachman, of Northeast, D.C., for Firearms Possessed by Convicted Felons and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  CCN: 20-012-998
  • A Beretta 92 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4000 block of Grant Street, Northeast.  CCN: 20-013-131
  • A “Ghost Gun” 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4100 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.  CCN: 20-013-181
  • A Taurus PT111 G2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of Stoddert Place, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 17-year-old Russell Campbell, of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol without a License in a Gun Free Zone, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.  CCN: 20-013-191

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1900 block of Montana Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old DeAndre Antonio Wright, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.   • A Cobra FS380 .380 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 200 block of V Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Lauren Ashley Lewis, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 20-013-509

 

  • A Smith & Wesson MP40 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 100 block of Ridge Road, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Christion Jerrell Cooper, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of Unregistered Firearm.  CCN: 20-013-818

 

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun, a Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun, a Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun, and a “Ghost Gun” 9mm caliber handgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 300 block of Ridge Road, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-014-073

 

 

  • A Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 400 block of M Street, Southeast.  The following people were arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of no fixed address, and 19-year-old Leon Jones, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a BB gun, Resisting Arrest, and Shoplifting.  CCN: 20-013-979

  • A Desert Eagle 40 SNW .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3200 block of Hiatt Place, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old George David Cook, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.  CCN: 20-015-227

  • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1300 block of Morris Road, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Consumption of Marijuana in a Public Space Prohibited, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-015-965

The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Corey Ravon Hawkins, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.  CCN: 20-016-519

 

  • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun and a Glock 26 Polymer 80 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1100 block of K Street, Southeast. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
