February 3, 2020 to February 10, 2020

 

(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, February 3, 2020, through Monday, February 10, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 32 firearms in the District of Columbia.

 

Note: This is not a comprehensive list of all guns recovered in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, February 4, 2020

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun and a Sturm Ruger LC9 9mm caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 3300 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast. CCN: 20-021-074

  • A Czechoslovakia CZ-82 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3100 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Matthew Carpenter, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in a School Zone, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Distribution of Marijuana.   • A Llama Max 1911 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Keysean Watson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. Wednesday, February 5, 2020

  • A Kel-Tec .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3400 block of 2nd Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-021-777
  • A Smith & Wesson 10-6 .38 caliber revolver (pictured below) was recovered in the 3500 block of Clay Place, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Steven Jefferson Williams, of Baltimore, MD, for Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and No Permit. CCN: 20-021-757

  • A Ruger P94 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 59-year-old Donnell Michael Williams, Sr., of Southeast, D.C., 49-year-old Joseph Patrick Proctor, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., 61-year-old Eugene Hickerson, of Southeast, D.C., and 44-year-old Kariem Allen, of Southeast, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.   • A .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 5300 block of Dix Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Tyshawn Simms, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 19 Gen 5 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 5000 block of Queens Stroll, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Phillip Nmn Hooker, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Licensed Pistol in a Prohibited Manner and Failure of Licensee to Comply with Duties during a Stop.   • A Masterpiece Arms 9mm caliber handgun and a Springfield Armory XD9 9mm caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 1200 block of Oak Drive, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Terrance Andrew Phillips, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 20-022-892

 

  • A Lorcin L380 .380 caliber handgun and a Sarsilmaz Kama Sport 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 3800 block of Georgia Avenue, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 33-year-old Kamisha Juanique Loftin, of Northwest, D.C., and 34-year-old Thais G. Williams, of Brooklyn, NY, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Felon in Possession. CCN: 20-022-849

Friday, February 7, 2020

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of South Carolina Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Fabian Michael Torres, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 20-023-259
  • A Longhorn Hi-Standard W-104 .22 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of 18th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Antonio Donnell Warren, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession with an Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.   • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun, an Aero Precision X15 .223 caliber assault rifle, and a Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 5200 block of Hayes Street, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 27-year-old Dimitrius Winters, of Northeast, D.C., 16-year-old male juvenile, of Northeast, D.C., 23-year-old Charles Winters, of Southeast, D.C., and 25-year-old Denico Jovan Lindsey, of Capitol Heights, MD, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Firearms Possessed by Convicted Felons.   • A Ruger GC9S 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2200 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Christina Lee Shannon, of Suffolk,, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A DDM4 V5 5.56mm caliber semi-automatic rifle and a Springfield XD-9 9mm caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 300 block of 37th Place, Southeast. CCN: 20-023-779

  • A CZ-USA P-09 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of K Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 39-year-old Kaytron Jose Goins, of Dale City, VA, for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Felon in Possession.   • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Kaylon Marcell Oliver, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 20-024-488

  • A Glock 45 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4300 block of Hunt Place, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Steven Nathaniel Phillips, of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.   • A Ruger P95 9mm caliber handgun and a Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace, Southeast. CCN: 20-024-623
  • A Hi-Point C9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 5800 block of Foote Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Clement Austin, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. Monday, February 10, 2020

  • A SCCY CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, Southeast. CCN: 20-025-206

  • A Daisy Powerline 93 .177 caliber BB gun and a BB gun were recovered in the 1300 block of Morris Road, Southeast. CCN: 20-025-067

 

 

 

 

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
