MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: April 13, 2020 to April 20, 2020

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, April 13, 2020, through Monday, April 20, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 33 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, April 14, 2020

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 200 block of Oakwood Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Terrance Jamaal Nicholson, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Parole Violation, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 20-058-952

 

 

  • A Smith & Wesson 4046 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4400 block of Edson Place, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Devon Kendrick Gardner, of Southeast, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 20-059-055

 

 

  • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of Bruce Place, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Keshon Moates, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-058-991

 

  • A Glock 32 .357 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2100 block of 21st Street, Northeast.  CCN: 20-058-980

 

  • A .25 caliber rifle and a Western Auto Supply 120 .22 caliber rifle were recovered in the 2300 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast.  CCN: 20-058-982

 

  • A Lorcin L9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1000 block of 6th Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Noel Carter, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Assault on a Police Officer, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Resisting Arrest  .CCN: 20-059-075

 

  • A Denali .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of 46th Place, Northeast.  The following people were arrested: 26-year-old Cordell Vincent Simms, of Northwest, D.C., and 21-year-old Sadae Lewis, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Simple Assault, Theft Second Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 20-041-170

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1800 block of U Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Marquis Hicks, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, and Obliterate, Remove, Change or Alter the Serial Number of a Firearm.  CCN: 20-059-432

 

 

  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3900 block of South Capitol Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Jayon Gray, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed.  CCN: 20-059-416

 

  • A KBI Inc. R61 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 900 block of Bellevue Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 20-059-459

 

  • A Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4600 block of Livingston Road, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Roscoe Samuel Atchinson, of Southwest, D.C., for Assault on a Police Officer, Carrying a Pistol outside a Home or Business, Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Felon in Possession, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-059-573

  • A Glock 19 .9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2900 block of Knox Place, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Melvin Sylvester Green, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  CCN: 20-059-762

 

 

  • A .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun and a .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 1500 block of 1st Street, Southwest.  The following people were arrested: 19-year-old Trevon Alonte Devore, of Southwest, D.C., and 19-year-old Kyon Beverly, of Southwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.  CCN: 20-059-760

  • A Jimenez Arms .380 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the Unit block of Hanover Place, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Demaine Campbell, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  CCN: 20-060-927

  • A .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1200 block of Simms Place, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Robert Andrew Moorehead, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer, Leaving After Colliding, Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving, Parole Violation, and Felon in Possession.  CCN: 20-061-440

 

 

  • A Palmetto Arms PA-15 .556 caliber assault rifle, a Masterpiece Arms Grim Reaper Uzi 9mm caliber machine gun with silencer, a Taurus PT24/7 G2 .40 caliber handgun, and a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 .40 caliber rifle were recovered in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Antoine Douglas, of Springfield, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.  CCN: 20-061-195

 

  • A Ruger SR9C 9mm caliber handgun and a Glock 43 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 3500 block of 11th Street, Northwest.  CCN: 20-061-362

 

  • A Taurus PT740 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 36-year-old Kenneth Antonio Brown, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.  CCN: 20-061-410

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
