WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest has been made in a violent robbery.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, at about 6:50 am, the victim was waiting for the bus at the intersection of 7th Street and H Street, NW. The suspect demanded the victim leave the bus stop area, but the victim refused. The suspect violently assaulted the victim while the suspect’s accomplice removed items from the victim’s pockets. Video footage captured the assault and robbery.
With the assistance of First District officers, the suspect was identified from the video footage as 28-year-old Kevin Joseph Vaughn, of Southeast, DC. First District Detectives discovered the suspect was arrested for Theft II (CCN: 23165464) hours after the robbery occurred. First District Detectives then additionally charged him with Robbery Force & Violence.
