Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch have arrested a man in connection to the homicide.
On Tuesday, August 15, 2021, at approximately 7:04 p.m., members of the Seventh District officers responded to the 2000 block of 16th Street, Southeast, for the report of a shooting and located 32-year-old Kiwyon Maddox, of Southeast, DC, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS personnel were summoned to the scene and after all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. Officers also located two other adult male victims suffering from gunshot wound injuries. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victims to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 28-year-old Erin Sheffey, of Northeast, DC. He was transported to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.
