Man Arrested for Armed Carjacking Offenses

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Carjacking Task Force announce the arrest of a man suspected in six carjacking offenses.

20-year-old Gregory Giron of Northwest, DC, was apprehended by members of the Baltimore County Police Department, pursuant to a US District Court arrest warrant, on February 28, 2024. He was extradited to Washington, DC, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, and he was charged with the below offenses:

  • Armed Carjacking: On January 5, 2024, at 8:45 p.m., the victim reported he was approached by two suspects who pointed a gun at the victim and demanded property in the 3900 block of Georgia Avenue NW. The victim was punched by one of the suspects, who then took the victim’s keys and drove off in the victim’s car. CCN: 24002640
  • Armed Carjacking: On January 23, 2024, 4:52 a.m. The victim reported he was double parked in the 7500 block of Eastern Avenue NW. When he opened the car door, two suspects approached him, struck him with a handgun, and stole the victim’s car. CCN: 24011059
  • Attempted Armed Carjacking: On January 23, 2024, at 5:55 a.m., the victim reported he was sitting inside his car in the 1500 block of Decatur Street NW when two suspects pulled up parallel to the victim, exited the car, and pointed guns at the victim demanding the victim’s car. The victim complied, but the suspects did not realize the car had a stick shift. The suspects fled the scene without taking the car. CCN: 24011213
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun): On January 23, 2024, 9:03 a.m., the victim reported she was driving when a car pulled in front of her car, cutting her off and forcing her to stop at the intersection of Brandywine Street and Linnean Avenue Northwest. Two suspects exited the car and pointed a gun at the victim. While driving away, she struck the suspect’s vehicle. The suspects then followed her and rear-ended her car. Once they reached Brandywine Street and 29th Street NW, the suspects drove off. CCN: 24011143
  • Armed Carjacking: On January 24, 2024, 4:24 p.m., the victim reported he was working on his car in the 6400 block of Luzon Avenue NW when a car pulled up next to him. Two suspects got out and pointed handguns at the victim and took the victim’s car. CCN: 24011896
  • Armed Carjacking: On January 25, 2024, at approximately 2:01 a.m., the victim reported he was outside of his car when two suspects approached. They pointed a gun at the victim and punched him before taking the keys. The suspects drove off in the victim’s car. CCN: 24012107
  • Armed Carjacking: On February 27, 2024, at 11:55 p.m., the victim reported she parked her car in the 3900 block of Georgia Avenue NW. Two suspects then approached her and pointed a gun while demanding property. The victim complied, and three more suspects got inside the car. The five suspects drove off in the victim’s car. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
