Homicide: 2600 Block of Birney Place, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, in the 2600 block of Birney Place, Southeast.

At approximately 12:04 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the 2600 block of Birney Place, Southeast, for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim, suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers canvased the rear of the listed location and located a second adult male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the second victim to a local hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, he was pronounced dead. The surviving victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 36 year-old William Boykin, of District Heights, MD.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
