Homicide: 200 Block of V Street, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, January 6, 2019, in the 200 block of V Street, Northwest.


At approximately 7:59 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.


On Monday, January 7, 2019, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.


The decedent has been identified as 25-year-old Damon Dukes, of Northwest, DC.


The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
