Homicide: 1800 Block of Q Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating an assault, which resulted in a homicide that occurred on Sunday, April 7, 2019, in the 1800 block of Q Street, Southeast.

 

On Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at approximately 4:45 pm, members of the Metropolitan Police Department were notified of an adult male assault victim seeking treatment at a local hospital for life threatening injuries.  Further investigation revealed the assault took place in the 1800 block of Q Street Southeast.

 

On Sunday, April 7, 2019, the victim succumbed to his injuries.  The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy was performed.  As a result, on April 9, 2019, the cause of death was determined to be complications from blunt force trauma.  The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

 

The decedent has been identified as 33 year-old Melvin Edward Quick, of Southeast, DC.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
