Homicide: 1200 Block of North Capitol Street, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Thursday, October 6, 2022, in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.

 

At approximately 1:07 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located four adult male victims, conscious and breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported to the victims to local hospitals for treatment.

 

On Friday, October 21, 2022 one of the victims succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The decedent’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy was performed. As a result, the OCME determined the cause of death was a single gunshot wound and ruled the manner of death a homicide.

 

The decedent has been identified as 21-year-old Christian Mitchell of Northwest, DC.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
