Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announced several arrests in recent robbery cases in Washington, DC.
First District:
- On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, 36 year-old Ali Jose Velasco Cabrera, of Arlington, VA, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in the 400 block of O Street, Southwest. CCN: 20-004-408
- At approximately 12:18 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect snatched the victim’s property then fled the scene.
Third District:
- On Monday, January 6, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 12 year-old juvenile female, of Northwest, DC, was arrested for a Robbery offense that occurred on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, in the 1400 block of S Street, Northwest. Previously, on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, a 15 year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC, was also arrested for this offense. CCN: 19-166-182.
- At approximately 10:40 pm, the suspects took the victim’s property and then fled the scene.
Fourth District:
- On Monday, January 6, 2020, 18 year-old Kaliq Thorne, of Northwest, DC, was arrested for an Armed Robbery (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, January 6, 2020, in the 300 block of Van Buren Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-003-542
- At approximately 7:10 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene. This case remains under investigation.
- On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, a 13 year-old juvenile male, of Northwest, DC, was arrested for an Assault with Intent to Rob offense that occurred on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, in the 1400 block of Newton Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-004-647
- At approximately 5:00 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects assaulted the victim and attempted to take the victim’s property. The suspects then fled the scene. No property was obtained. This case remains under investigation.
Fifth District:
- On Wednesday, January 8, 2020, 25 year-old Wayne Jones, of no fixed address, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Friday, January 3, 2020, in the 1500 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 20-001-898
- At approximately 7:45 pm, the suspect entered an establishment at the listed location. The suspect snatch US currency from an employee’s hands and then fled the scene.
Sixth District:
- On Sunday, January 5, 2020, 31 year-old Antonio Roots, of Southeast, DC was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, in the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 19-228-724
- At approximately 3:08 pm, the suspect entered an establishment at the listed location. The suspect snatched US currency from the victim then fled the scene.
