Arrests Made in an Assault with Intent to Kill Offense: 2600 Block of 3rd Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District announce two arrests have been made regarding an Assault with Intent to Kill offense that occurred on Thursday, January 10, 2019, in the 2600 block of 3rd Street, Northeast.


At approximately 6:59 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.


On Friday, January 11, 2019, 24-year-old Maxie Stevens, of Northeast, DC, and 28-year-old Raphael Ward, of Southeast DC, were both arrested and charged with Assault With Intent to Kill (Gun). The detectives’ investigation revealed that there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspects in this case. Additionally, it was determined that this was a workplace dispute between known parties.
