Arrests Made in an Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun) Offense: 200 Block of 54th Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF), the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Marshals Service announce three arrests have been made regarding a shooting that occurred on Friday, December 28, 2018, in the 200 block of 54th Street, Northeast.

At approximately 2:17 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located one adult male victim and one juvenile male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported both victims to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, March 8, 2019, pursuant to DC Superior Court arrest warrants, 23-year-old Stefon Shaquil Freshley, of Northeast, DC and 19-year-old Darnell Lamont Savoy, of Southeast, DC, were arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill While Armed.

Additionally, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested 29-year-old Jamal Matthews, of Southeast, DC, in Dayton, Ohio. He is currently awaiting extradition to the District of Columbia where he will be charged with Assault with Intent to Kill While Armed.

This case remains under investigation.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a shooting committed in the District of Columbia.
