Arrests Made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) Offense: 1200 Block of Simms Place, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Fifth District announced arrests have been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Friday, June 12, 2020, in the 1200 block of Simms Place, Northeast.

At approximately 6:34 pm, Fifth District officers responded to the listed location after hearing the sounds of gunshots. The officers observed a vehicle flee the scene. A short time later, the vehicle was involved in a collision. Multiple suspects fled from the vehicle. Two of the suspects were apprehended by responding officers. Multiple firearms were recovered from inside of the suspects’ vehicle. There were no reported injuries.

On Friday, June 12, 2020, 23 year-old Quintin Martin, of Fort Washington, MD, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Destruction of Property, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. Additionally, 25 year-old James Bell, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License in reference to this offense.

This case remains under investigation.
