Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District announce two arrests have been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Bottle) offense that occurred on Sunday, March 24, 2019, in the 2400 block of 18th Street, Northwest.
At approximately 1:50 am, the suspect approached the victim, inside of an establishment, at the listed location. The suspect struck the victim and walked away. A second victim confronted the suspect and was struck with a bottle by a second suspect. Both suspects were arrested by responding officers. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
On Sunday, March 24, 2019, 30-year-old Amir Gawaher, of Daytona Beach, FL, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Bottle). Additionally, 23-year-old Erick Martinez, of Winston-Salem, NC, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault.
