Arrest Made in Two Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) Offenses in the Fourth and Fifth Districts

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Fourth and Fifth Districts announce an arrest has been made in reference to two Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offenses that occurred in the Fourth and Fifth Districts.

 

Fourth District:

 

  • Thursday, July 16, 2020, at approximately 10:33 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the 4400 block of 13th Street, Northeast, for the report of sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

 

Fifth District:

 

  • On Saturday, July 18, 2020, at approximately 6:02 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the 1400 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

 

On Friday, July 24, 2020, 59 year-old Rodney Cunningham, of Fairfax, VA, was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
