Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District announce an arrest has been made in reference to Robbery (Snatch) and Theft Two offenses that occurred in the Fourth District.

• Robbery (Snatch): On Sunday, January 12, 2020, at approximately 12:15 pm, the suspect approached the victim, while they were in their vehicle, in the 5600 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The suspect brandished a metal pipe and smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then took property from the victim and fled the scene. CCN: 20-006-982

• Robbery (Snatch): On Sunday, January 12, 2020, at approximately 1:08 pm, the suspect approached the victim, while they were in their vehicle, in the 6800 block of Piney Branch Road, Northwest. The suspect brandished a metal pipe and smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect took property from the victim and fled the scene. CCN: 20-006-995

• Theft Two: On Sunday, January 12, 2020, at approximately 1:25 pm, the suspect entered the victim’s vehicle in the 6900 block of Maple Street, Northwest. The suspect took property then fled the scene. CCN: 20-007-003

• Theft Two: On Sunday, January 12, 2020, at approximately 1:35 pm, the suspect forcibly entered the victim’s vehicle in the 7600 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. Once inside, the suspect took property then fled the scene. CCN: 20-007-015

On Sunday, January 12, 2020, 28 year-old Edward Swails, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with two counts of Robbery (Snatch) and two counts of Theft Two.
