Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced an arrest has been made in reference to offenses that occurred in the First District.
Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Hammer) and Assaulting a Police Officer: On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, in the 600 block of H Street, Northwest, at approximately 2:53 pm the suspect and the victim were involved in an argument. During the argument the suspect struck the victim with a hammer then fled the scene. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers. During the arrest the suspect assaulted two officers. Robbery Force and Violence and Aggravated Assault: On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in the 800 block of 5th Street, Northwest, at approximately 8:57 pm the suspect approached the victim and asked for items from the victim. The victim declined. The suspect struck the victim. The victim dropped property. The suspect took the property and fled the scene. CCN 21-076-413
Simple Assault and Theft Two: On Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in the 800 block of 7th Street, Northwest at approximately 4:55 am, the suspect approached the victim, a delivery truck driver. The suspect assaulted the victim and took items from the delivery truck. The suspect fled the scene. CCN 21-057-087
On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, 27 year-old Deon Toye, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Hammer), two counts of Assaulting a Police Officer, Robbery Force and Violence, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and Theft Two.
