Arrest Made in a Kidnapping and Robbery While Armed (Gun) Offense: 600 Block of 49th Place, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes Task Force announced that an arrest was made in a Kidnapping and Robbery while Armed (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, January 14, 2019, in the 600 block of 49th Place, Northeast.

 

At approximately 2:30 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and forced the victim into a vehicle with two other suspects. The suspects then drove the victim to the 1200 block of Miegs Place, Northeast. Once there, the suspects took the victim’s property. One of the suspects was apprehended by responding officers. The other two suspects fled the scene.

 

On Monday, January 14, 2019, 25-year-old John Sweeney, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Kidnapping and Robbery while Armed (Gun).

 

This case remains under investigation.
