Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, in the 600 block of Galveston Place, Southeast.
At approximately 9:10 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, inside of a residence, suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 62 year-old Arnold Smith, of Southeast, DC.
On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 60 year-old Joseph Smith of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.
