Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday, April 22, 2019, in the 5300 block of E Street, Southeast.
At approximately 10:49 am, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 24 year-old Deandre Hawkins, of No Fixed Address.
On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 20 year-old Keonte Johnson, of No Fixed Address. He has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed- Felony Murder.
