Arrest Made in a Homicide: 3900 Block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred on Thursday, December 19, 2019, in the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.

At approximately 3:58 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 28 year-old Richard Washington, of Northeast, DC.

On Monday, December 30, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 25 year-old Jerome Alexander, of no fixed address, was arrested by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed-Felony Murder.
