Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, January 6, 2020, in the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast.
At approximately 3:48 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 21 year-old Tia Carey, of Southeast, DC.
On Monday, January 6, 2020, 21 year-old Tierra Posey, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.
