Arrest Made in a Homicide: 2900 Block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Friday, April 5, 2019, in the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast.

 

At approximately 12:28 am, members of the Seventh District responded, to the listed location, for the report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

 

The decedent has been identified as 49 year-old Edwin Richardson, of Southeast, DC.

 

On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 18-year-old Kevon Pinkett, of Southeast, DC. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.
