Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1900 block of 16th Street, Southeast, on Friday, October 11, 2019.
At approximately 3:26 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all lifesaving efforts failed the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 30 year-old Jonathan Jones, of Cheltenham, MD.
On Friday, October 11, 2019, 24 year-old Lamar Hicks, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.
