Arrest Made in a Homicide: 1700 Block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in connection to a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in the 1700 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast.

 

At approximately 12:00 am, on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, members of the Fifth District responded to the 1700 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male, inside of a residential building at the listed location, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

 

The decedent has been identified as 25-year-old Donald Lewis, of Northeast, DC.

 

On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, 22 year-old Brandon Wiggins, of Northeast, DC, was transported by members of the Major Violator Section’s Fugitive Unit to the Homicide Branch, where he was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.

 

This case remains under investigation.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
