Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast, on Sunday, April 9, 2017.
At approximately 9:08pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of an Aggravated Assault. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital.
On Wednesday, May 17th, 2017, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
On Monday, June 26, 2017, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner-Baltimore ruled that the cause of death was occlusive pulmonary thromboembolus in a setting of paraplegia due to gunshot wound of back and ruled the manner of death to be Homicide.
The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old Zaan Scott, of Southeast, DC.
On Thursday, January 24, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 32-year-old Christopher Green, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed – Felony Murder.
