Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Thursday, June 13, 2019, in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.
At approximately 1:57 am, members of the First District responded to the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim, inside of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 24 year-old Devin Butler, of No Fixed Address.
On Thursday, June 13, 2019, 21 year-old George Malik Anderson, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.
