Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide have announced an arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in the 1200 Block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.
At approximately 2:59 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Davane Williams, of Northeast, DC.
On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 22-year-old Tyree Irving, of Northeast, DC, was arrested by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF), and transported to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated).
After further investigation by First District Detectives, Tyree Irving was additionally charged in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, February 18, 2019, in the 1300 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest. CCN: 19-028-876
- At approximately 1:42 pm, the victim was traveling in his vehicle at the listed location. The suspect shot the victim and then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
