Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Second District announce that an arrest has been made in reference to a Felony Assault on a Police Officer while Armed (Gun) offense that occurred on Friday, September 13, 2019, in the 2200 block of I Street, Northwest.
At approximately 12:54 am, plain-clothes Metropolitan Police Department detectives approached a double-parked vehicle at the listed location. The detectives asked the suspect to move his vehicle to a legal parking space. The suspect verbally threatened the detectives then brandished a firearm. The suspect was apprehended by the detectives. There were no injuries reported.
On Friday, September 13, 2019, 21 year-old Amon Sutton, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Felony Assault on a Police Officer, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), and Carrying a Pistol Without a License.
