Arrest Made in an Assault on a Police Officer while Armed Offense: 4400 Block of Livingston Road, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault on a Police Officer while Armed offense that occurred on Sunday, May 31, 2020, in the 4400 block of Livingston Road, Southeast.

 

At approximately 10:45 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, the suspect brandished a handgun and the suspect fired several rounds in the direction of the officers. One of the officers returned fire in the direction of the suspect. The suspect and the officers were not injured as a result of the gunfire. The suspect was subsequently apprehended.

 

On Sunday, May 31, 2020, 26 year-old Amadee Blakney, of Greenbelt, MD, was arrested and charged with Assault on a Police Officer While Armed, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Receipt or Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feed Device, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.

 

The MPD officer involved has been placed on administrative leave, pursuant to MPD policy. The body worn camera footage from the scene is currently under review.
