Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault With Intent to Kill while Armed (Shotgun) offense that occurred on Thursday, May 2, 2019, in the 300 block of 37th Street, Southeast.
At approximately 7:16 pm, the suspect and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation at the listed location. During the altercation, the suspect brandished a shotgun and shot the victim then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
On Saturday, May 4, 2019, pursuant to DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 30 year-old William Anthony McKenzie, III of Southeast, DC was arrested and charged with Assault With Intent to Kill while Armed (Shotgun). Investigation by detectives suggests that this offense is potentially domestic in nature.
