Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District have announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun) offense that occurred on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in the 4000 block of Benning Road, Northeast.
At approximately 12:12 am, the suspect approached the victim, while the victim was seated in their vehicle, at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and fired shots, striking the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene.
On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 26-year-old Demetrius Rico Lawton, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun).
