Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill and a First Degree Cruelty to Children offense that occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue, Northeast.
At approximately 4:51 pm, members of the Special Operation Division were flagged down by citizens, in reference to a juvenile victim being assaulted, at the listed location. Officers apprehended the suspect. The suspect and victim were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, 28 year-old Idreis Alexander Augustus, of Springfield, VA, was arrested and charged with Assault With Intent to Kill, First Degree Cruelty to Children, and Destruction of Property.
