Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Thursday, March 12, 2020, in the 5300 block of East Capitol Street, Southeast.
At approximately 8:55 pm, the suspect and victims were engaged in a verbal altercation at the listed location. The suspect brandished a gun and shot one of the victims. The victim sought treatment at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
On Monday, March 23, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 23 year-old Tywone Sommers, of Southeast DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
