Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District have announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, April 27, 2019, in the 200 block of Newcomb Street, Southeast.
At approximately 8:38 pm, the victim was driving in her vehicle at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and fired, striking the victim. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
On Tuesday, September 24, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 24 year-old Shawn Mitchell, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
