Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Carjacking Task Force announced an arrest has been made in Armed Robbery (Gun) and Armed Carjacking (Gun) offenses that occurred in the District. The offenses are listed below:
Armed Carjacking (Gun)
- On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at approximately 2:44 am, in the 700 block of 31st Street, Southeast. CCN: 23-138-590
- On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at approximately 3:31 am, in the 3100 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 23-138-594
- On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at approximately 4:46 am, in the 400 block of K Street, Southeast. CCN: 23-138-612
Armed Robbery (Gun)
- On Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at approximately 10:07 pm, in the 3600 block of B Street, Southeast, and Kidnapping in the 2400 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 23-139-134
- On Thursday, August 24, 2023, at approximately 4:32 am, in the 6200 block of Dix Street, Northeast. CCN 23-139-209
- On Thursday, August 24, 2023, at approximately 4:52 am, in the 100 block of M Street, Southeast. CCN 23-139-237
- On Thursday, August 24, 2023, at approximately 4:57 am, in the Unit block Potomac Avenue, Southeast. CCN 23-139-216
- On Thursday, August 24, 2023, at approximately 5:03 am, in the 1200 block of Maple View Place, Southeast. CCN 23-139-215
- On Thursday, August 24, 2023, at approximately 5:07 am, in the 1200 block of 1st Street, Southeast. CCN 23-139-212
- On Thursday, August 24, 2023, at approximately 5:20 am, in the 4400 block of Benning Road, Northeast. CCN 23-139-213
On Friday, August 25, 2023, as a result of the detectives’ investigation, a 16-year-old juvenile male of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with the above offenses. Four firearms were recovered at the time of the arrest. The male was additionally charged with Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.
These cases remain under investigation. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
