Arrest Made in an Armed Carjacking (Gun) Offense: 1000 Block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense that occurred on Friday, March 15, 2019, in the 1000 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast.

At approximately 10:09 pm, two suspects approached the victim’s vehicle at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded that the victim exit her vehicle. The victim complied and the suspects entered her vehicle and fled the scene. A short time later, officers from the Fifth District observed the vehicle parked in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road, Northeast. As officers approached, the vehicle fled the scene, striking one of the officers. The victim’s vehicle was recovered and one of the suspects was arrested in the 1700 block of Benning Road Northeast. A second suspect made good their escape. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Officers arrested 27 year old Carlton Johnson, of Southeast, DC, and charged him with Armed Carjacking.

This case remains under investigation.
