Arrest Made in a 2015 Homicide: 200 Block of K Street, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in a fatal stabbing that occurred on Friday, October 16, 2015, in the 200 block of K Street, Northwest.

At approximately 1:10 am, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males suffering from apparent stab wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported both victims to area hospitals. The first victim later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.  The second victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old Joel David Midgett of Northwest, DC.

On Tuesday, November 26, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 28 year-old Olivia Cartwright-Cole, of no fixed address, was arrested by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) and charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.

This case remains under investigation.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
