Position/Title:
Assistant Chief, Patrol Services South (PSS)

Nikki Lavenhouse currently serves as the Assistant Chief of Patrol Services South (PSS), which includes the First, Sixth, and Seventh police districts. She was promoted to this position on May 4, 2026 by Interim Chief of Police Jeffery W. Carroll after serving as commander of the Fourth District.

Assistant Chief Nikki Lavenhouse began her career with the Metropolitan Police Department in 2008 in the Seventh District, where she served as a patrol officer and, later, as a Field Training officer, followed by assignments in the Paternity Support Unit and in the Youth Investigations Division’s Missing Persons Unit.

Lavenhouse rose through the ranks, promotions, commendations, and invaluable experience across the Police Department—in robbery and burglary prevention; Narcotics Enforcement and Special Investigations; and managing a Crime Suppression team. Promoted to captain, Lavenhouse oversaw the daily operations of MPD’s Patrol Services South Bureau, comprising the First, Sixth, and Seventh Districts.

In 2022, Lavenhouse was transferred to the Special Operations Division’s Tactical Patrol Branch, where she managed the Canine Patrol Unit; the Traffic Safety and Specialized Enforcement Section; the Harbor Patrol Unit; and the Air Support Unit. She was named commander of the Fourth District in July 2023.

Nikki Lavenhouse is a graduate of Bowie State University.
