Arrest Made in Northwest Assault

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect who struck a man with a gun in Northwest during an argument.

On Saturday, January 3, 2026, at approximately 11:40 p.m., the suspect and the victim were involved in an argument inside of a residence in the 1400 block of Euclid Street, Northwest. The argument escalated, and the suspect began to assault the victim with a gun. The victim was able to stop the suspect’s assault. The suspect was arrested by responding officers and the gun was recovered. The gun was reported stolen in another jurisdiction.

45-year-old Niwatilgu Anthony Long of Northwest, D.C was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Gun (Pistol Whip), Carrying a Pistol Without a License, and Receiving Stolen Property.
