Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting in Southeast, D.C.
On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 5000 block of C Street, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. The first victim died at the scene. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Rasheem Bankins of Temple Hills, M.D.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.
