Homicide: 2300 block of Ainger Place, Southeast

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, in the 2300 block of Ainger Place, Southeast.

At approximately 12:12 p.m., members of the Seventh District responded to a local hospital for the report of an adult male seeking treatment for gunshot wounds. Despite all lifesaving efforts the victim succumbed to their injuries. As a result of the detective’s investigation, it was determined that the shooting occurred at the listed location. The victim had been transported to a local hospital in a privately owned vehicle.

The decedent has been identified as 25-year-old Jamal Walton, of Northwest, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
