(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, July 15, 2019, through Monday, July 22, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 30 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, July 16, 2019

  • A Taurus PT-111G2 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2700 block of Langston Place, Northeast. CCN: 19-124-561

  • A Ruger P345 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 100 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Omar Rashad Harrington, of Northwest, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. CCN: 19-124-636

  • A Diamondback DB9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4300 block of 3rd Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 19-124-607

  • A Century Arms RAS47 7.62 caliber assault rifle (pictured below) was recovered in the 1400 block of Bangor Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 45-year-old Uebonda Denise McGee, of Springfield, VA, and 40-year-old Donald Abe Coleman, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Rossi, Amadeo, & Co. 584 .38 caliber revolver (pictured below) was recovered in the 1400 block of Bangor Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-124-962

  • A Smith & Wesson 5906 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 500 block of Newcomb Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-125-244

  • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4400 block of Fall Terrace, Southeast. CCN: 19-125-279

  • A RG Industries .22mm caliber revolver was recovered in the 1900 block of Quincy Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Desmond Antoine Brown, Jr., of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Receiving Stolen Property.   • A Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 400 block of P Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Altering the Identification Marks of a Weapon. CCN: 19-125-551

  • A FN-FAL 509 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of 46th Place, Southeast. CCN: 19-125-935
  • A Taurus PT-247 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1800 block of Perry Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Elijah Cox, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Smith & Wesson SW99 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2800 block of 5th Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 16-year-old juvenile male, of District Heights, MD and 17-year-old juvenile female, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Condon Terrace, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 29-year-old Duan Hill, of Southeast, D.C., and 29-year-old Dejuan Lemar Battle, of Capitol Heights, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, and Felon in Possession. Friday, July 19, 2019

  • A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun and a Taurus PT738 .38 caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 200 block of V Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Kenneth Gray, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.   • A Taurus Magnum .357 caliber revolver was recovered in the 3800 block of South Dakota Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Demanne Kenneth Shelton, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in a School Zone, Possession of an Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a firearm During a Crime of Violence.   • A Smith & Wesson M&P .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2200 block of Savannah Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Jamal Walters, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Assault on a Police Officer, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Carrying a Pistol without a License.   • A Cobra M-11 9mm caliber handgun and an AK-47 Micro Draco 7.62x39mm assault rifle were recovered in the 3600 block of 22nd Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Terrance Prue, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Altering the Identification Marks of a Weapon, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A Taurus Millennium Pro .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of O Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Anthony Demarco Ferguson, of Southeast, D.C., for Unlawful Transportation of a Firearm and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. CCN: 19-127-332
  • A Ruger SR-1911 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3400 block of 15th Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-127-446

  • A SCCY CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1100 block of K Street, Southeast. CCN: 19-126-057

  • A Smith & Wesson Magnum .357 caliber handgun was recovered in the 4900 block of Dix Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 39-year-old Marques Leon Glescoe, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 19-127-535

 

Monday, July 22, 2019

  • A North America Arms .22 caliber revolver was recovered in the 400 block of 4th Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 76-year-old Jarvis Franklin Harris, of New Bern, N.C, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 19-128-216
  • A Glenfield 50 12 gauge shotgun was recovered in the 5000 block of Benning Road, Southeast. CCN: 19-128-676

 

 

 

 

 

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
