Fourth District Commander Nikki Lavenhouse
Nikki Lavenhouse has served as the commander of the Fourth District since July 2023, when she was promoted to the position by Chief of Police Pamela A. Smith.
Commander Lavenhouse began her career with the Metropolitan Police Department in 2008 in the Seventh District, where she served as a patrol officer and, later, as a Field Training officer, followed by assignments in the Paternity Support Unit and in the Youth Investigations Division’s Missing Persons Unit.
Lavenhouse rose through the ranks, promotions, commendations, and invaluable experience across the Police Department—in robbery and burglary prevention; Narcotics Enforcement and Special Investigations; and managing a Crime Suppression team. Promoted to captain, Lavenhouse oversaw the daily operations of MPD’s Patrol Services South Bureau, comprising the First, Sixth, and Seventh Districts.
In 2022, Lavenhouse was transferred to the Special Operations Division’s Tactical Patrol Branch, where she managed the Canine Patrol Unit; the Traffic Safety and Specialized Enforcement Section; the Harbor Patrol Unit; and the Air Support Unit. She was promoted to inspector and, from there, to 4D commander.
Commander Lavenhouse is a graduate of Bowie State University.
